Black, 43, says he has been sleeping on the streets of Washington, D.C., ever since illness forced him out of work and his home three years ago. He now works selling Street Sense, a newspaper promoting homeless issues, and cannot keep all his possessions with him while he is working. City officials found a way to address this common problem shared by the homeless. Cities like Washington DC, San Diego CA & Portland OR are offering free storage lockers for the homeless. This gives the homeless added security from theft and increased mobility to focus on the important tasks of finding work, shelter or food.
